Punishment Parade

In 1894 Queen Victoria paid a visit to her Guards and found them drunk in the afternoon. She ordered that the Guard should be inspected at 4 o’clock every day for 100 years.

The sentence was up in 1994, but no one remembered to tell the Guards to stop.

The Four 'O' Clock Parade, also known as the Dismounting Ceremony and Punishment Parade takes place at 16:00 hours in the courtyard in front of the Horse Guards building.
