Life in Sunny Dubai

Iftar

Today is the first weekend since Ramadan started. We drove to Sharjah late afternoon to collect business cards that my nephew had sent in January last year! It took a while to link up with the lady who brought them, we chatted briefly and then wended our way out of the area to get back on the main road.

G spotted this scene outside a mosque and quickly too a picture. It is not the best picture taken today, but it tells a story. Iftar is the time when the fast is broken after a whole day of not eating or drinking anything. A number of mosques hand out free meals to people - like in this blip. There was still about 20 minutes before a cannon announces the time so I guess people are securing their spot here.

Usually, the roads are quite empty coming up to sunset, but today it was really busy! G wanted to drive past Mamzar Beach as we hadn't been there for ages, so the extra is of a family getting ready to break their fast on the beach! We stayed until it got dark and drank saffron tea.

And in the morning, we had a Skype chat with SweetArt and Martin after ages!
