Liberation Tea Dance

Colin and I were privileged to be able to attend the Liberation Tea Dance this afternoon at Beau Sejour even though we are not really old enough!! It was wonderful. This year it’s 74 years since Guernsey was freed from being occupied by German rule! Hundreds of people who were alive during the war wether they stayed here or were evacuated gathered to have a fun afternoon but also to remenice as war time songs were song. This happens every year. Just about everyone was in red, white and blue. It was sponsored by Dame Mary Perkins at Specsavers and our son Tim was the compère .... he did really well. The D Day Darlings sang and Ashby’s Big Band played. The Glen Miller songs took me back to my childhood as my Dad loved the sound. I love it too now! Thanks Dad! Lots of sing along sing along songs too! We were given a lovely cloth bag of goodies at the end the afternoon. The whole thing was free! Thank you Specsavers! In extras are the words of our local Guernsey song which is very special and quite emotional to sing!
