New Orleans, Day 6 of 7: Jazz Fest

We spent an entire, exhilarating day at Jazz Fest. This was the 50th year of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival at the huge Fair Grounds Race Course. It was incredibly big and crowded; a half million people attended over two four-day week-ends. I can't remember all the acts I saw, either while sitting in huge tents, or by standing at the edges of some of the smaller venues, but it included blues great Buddy Guy, another zydeco great, C. J. Chenier, and Delfeayo Marsalis's Uptown Jazz Orchestra with his dad, Ellis Marsalis, sitting in on piano for a couple of tunes.
The music at Jazz Fest was big and loud, while the music we found in town we mostly stumbled across and could watch up close. All wonderful.
Extras: Jazz Fest, beautiful clothes, and later that night, a group on Frenchman Street.
