Sock & shoe

On a brief walk around the village this afternoon I came across an abandoned scarf, hat and this single sock and shoe - all in separate locations. What is going one - did we miss several wild parties last night while we were in Winchester or are people abandoning what they don't want in anticipation of Christmas gifts?
