Chopsticks
I'm at the limits of my memory. I have memories from when I was small, plenty of them, but I'm trying to remember something specific, trying to work out when I learnt to use chopsticks.
I'm pretty sure I could use them by the time we went to Hong Kong when I was eight but then I simply can't recall us every having Chinese when we lived in New Malden.
Funnily enough, what I can summon up is the memory of actually learning, wherever and whenever it was: realising that the motion was like an inverted jaw, with the bottom stick stable and the top one mobile.
I mention this because today we landed at John Lennon and headed straight down to London. The Minx had found us a nice hotel - The Beverley - and just around the corner there was Chinese restaurant, called The Dragon Inn. We opted for Chinese because only a few days ago we realised that in six and a half years, we've only once been for a Chinese meal together (although plenty of takeaways!).
The restaurant was nicely done out but the food was amazing! There were some alarming prices on the menu but the dishes we opted for were fairly standard. And the staff didn't seem too bothered by my 'authentic' style of eating :-)
