Sea of Alpini

This year's gathering of the Alpinist in Milan this weekend with their black feather in the green felt hat, pins, musical instruments - improvised or better, was a sight to see! 

An afternoon thunderstorm with hail, wind and the whole works had everyone running to hide under the galleries around the Piazza Duomo.  

Mr JC and I were out to see a film at the cinema with his friend and was nearly impossible to get back home.  The crush of people and Alpinist was absolute!  Thankfully they are a happy lot and I think many had been imbibing most of the day.  Informal groups were playing their instruments and singing to pass the time. Lots of laughter and smiles.

I had to put Mr JC up on my shoulders for fear of him getting trampled by the crush.
