Glen Echo Park

Glen Echo Park was a small amusement park near Washington, D.C., that operated from 1891 to 1968. Parts of it are still around, including this entrance sign, the 1921 Dentzel carousel and a few buildings. It now operates as a cultural center and is operated by the National Park Service.

We visited to ride the carousel, which is closing in a month for an extended rehab. We also visited the Newseum. In extras are pieces of the Berlin Wall, Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles' car that was blown up by the Mafia, and a piece of the World Trade Center destroyed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
