Backwoods

Thinning resumes.

Excellent weather and knee much improved, so B and I headed into the wood to resume thinning operations.  The previously opened paths have remained passable (so far) and in many sunny spots Speedwell has spread across the ground.  Some signs that dogwood is going to sprout again (to be expected).  The opened up oaks still look good and are beginning to leaf up.  Still a lot of willow to be got out around further oak stands but now further to carry the logs down to the road.  The greening up makes the huge gaps caused by dead ash all too apparent.  Beginning to spot preferred areas for preparation for replanting.  Removal of old plastic tree guards and metal stakes at oak trees continues.
