Life through the lens...

Love on the edge.

It just had to be the gannets.
Although there were guillemots, razor bills, kittiwakes, and puffins among the thousands of birds at Bempton Cliffs today.

We just couldn’t have picked a more perfect day.
The drive over there, through the East Yorkshire countryside. Up and over the the Yorkshire Wolds was just too beautiful for words.
( except for three lots of road works.)
We were in the overflow of the overflow car park, but still not too busy as people spread out over the clifftops.
Two to three hours enjoying watching the birds, then a picnic overlooking the sea.

On to Filey mid afternoon. Still clear blue sky and temp. up to 22C.
Parked near Cobble Landing. Just got there as they were bringing the lifeboat back up the slipway. They made a very difficult manoeuvre look easy.
See extra photo. I wanted to include some of the people who were sat watching.
We had a lovely walk along the promenade. Such a delight to see so many people out enjoying the weather.
Had out first ice cream cornets of the year!
Just sat watching the tide going out, with a beautiful view of Filey Bay from The Brigg round to Flamborough Head.
A few children were paddling, but there were more seagulls than people on the beach.

Back home and a crab and asparagus salad with Cornish new potatoes for tea.
Asparagus from BalloonTree Farm bought on the way, and the crab bought in Filey.
( potatoes imported from Cornwall!)

A perfect way to end a perfect day.

Oh, and must say the wine tasting last night was great. John had us all laughing. The wines were good, and so was the meal.
Please note we didn’t end up horizontal!
