First bloom

I didn't have to go far for this shot...just out my back door. This cactus is a "cow's tongue" prickly pear. It stands about 5 feet tall and spreads about the same on the ground. I tried counting the buds and was still counting when I reached 200!  We have another one that does not have a bud on it, but put out a lot of new paddles.

I am enjoying seeing the different types and colors of the cactus.

The yucca plants are another source of new flowers for me. The hummingbirds love the natural nectar from all these flowers.

What a different landscape we have surrounding us. I am grateful to be experiencing the spring bloom for the first time.

Until tomorrow.....
