Rubbing memories away

The arts centre in Salisbury is an old church, which was subjected to a compulsory purchase in the 1970s due to changes in the area. The grounds, I believe, are still the last resting place of a number of people.

The path is covered with paving which are the headstones of people's graves. Walking over the stones, something I have done hundreds of times over the years, made me think that my feet (and others) are literally rubbing away the memories of people. It's an odd feeling.
