Recycled Train
I thought I would blip one of these one day but I hadn't planned it for today, and I certainly hadn't planned this shot of it.
A trip to the garden centre this afternoon to get bedding plants. The road I normally take is closed for a few weeks due to a bridge over a new dual carriageway being replaced, and the diversion took me over a level crossing. The barrier was down and as I approached the train came into sight. It's a Class 230 and I know it looks pretty ordinary but it's unusual as it used to be a London Underground District Line train. Until the last ones were withdrawn in June 2017 they were the oldest underground trains running in London but with the electric motors removed and hybrid diesel/battery engines installed and a complete refurbishment inside, they have been given a new lease of life. Three of them have been introduced on the Bedford to Bletchley line to last for a few years until the new line from Oxford to Bedford (and ultimately Cambridge) is opened when completely new trains will be introduced.
I had the camera next to me so managed a quick shot through the windscreen as it passed. I might try for a better shot one day.
