Such a good girl. Yay!
Today I had my morning walk in 'Braidburn Valley Park'. And do you know what happened?..................... Ann said, 'Trixie, I'm going to let you off your lead. You seem to have recovered well from your 'big girl op' and I'm worried that you will have forgotten all your recall training.
I've been practising my recall training in the house, but to be honest I'm a perfect pooch in the house. There's no distractions and why wouldn't I come to Ann for treats when she shouts, 'Trixie come'?
Soooooooo................. I got let off my lead and I was such a good girl. Ann had little bits of chicken for me and every time she shouted, 'Trixie come', I went zooming back to her. It helped that it wasn't too busy in the park.
The only little blip I had; was when I met two cockerpoos that I wanted to play with. They were being a bit naughty too. None of us would go back to our owners because we were having such fun running about together. The other owners were getting angry and trying to chase us. That was fun! Guess what Ann did? She just stood in the sunshine and ignored me. And then when the other owners had captured their pooches that took quite a while and put them back on their leads, Ann shouted, 'Trixie come' and I did my speediest running back to her. I got a little bit of chicken and I was allowed to stay off lead for the rest of my time in the park.......................
…...............Was that the correct thing to do? Who knows? I'm still only a puppy and I'm still learning and obviously Ann wants me to come back to her the minute she calls me.................. BUT............ positive reinforcement and all that..........................
