A True Labour of Love
Tomorrow is a day that I absolutely dread coming. It's the day we bury our beloved son's ashes in the family plot. Jamie's little brother Evan spent many hours crafting this stunningly beautiful bird's eye maple urn to be used as a receptacle. It's such a heartfelt last loving fraternal gesture and I am overwhelmed by how gorgeous it is. The wood is extra special because my cousin Bayard (also a wood turner and craftsman) sent it to Evan from his workshop in Oregon.
Just as we carried the urn out to the garden to photograph it, the skies once again opened, and the rain came down. You can see heaven's teardrops on the wood if you look closely. Somehow so appropriate.
Extra shows the top of the urn's lid.
