Sad

Mrs SoL cleaned the windows of our large patio doors.  Unfortunately, when the kestrels are hunting, some birds are looking less forwards than backwards when flying at speed.  They hit the windows if they don't see them in time.  Mostly, they are stunned and recover after a few minutes.  This one didn't.  The saddest part about it is that even though it is winter, they seem to be paired up with mates.  This one's mate kept coming back to it and nudging it for about two hours.  It eventually gave up and left it alone.  I didn't want to remove it until I saw that the other bird had stopped coming back.
(Of course, it isn't really Mrs SoL's fault - I have to be clear about that!).
