Oban Pride

The first ever Oban Pride march was held this morning and it was an honour to be asked, as the local MSP, to take part.

My colleague Christina Mckelvie, who is the Equalities Minister, was there too and although it was the first wet day for quite a while, the rain did not dampen the high spirits, nor deter any of those present from sparkling in a range of outfits .

The reaction on the streets was great - positive and very friendly - and even some of the boats in the marina were flying rainbow flags.

Crystal , pictured here, led the happy throng through the town and back to the Argyllshire Gathering Hall , where there were stalls , music and speeches.  However Cathleen and I had to go on to campaign elsewhere for the European elections , so we  couldn't stay long at what was shaping up to be a big and lively after march party.
