Life through my eyes

By Amanda_T

Another day, another hospital!

After breakfast Mr T had a nap, and when I woke him up for his antibiotics he had a bit of pain again.  As it was the same as the last time we waited a couple of hours to see if it improved and then phoned 111.  They decided to dispatch an ambulance, and they were with us about 15 minutes later.  Given the medical history, and knowing there was a gall stone, it was deemed prudent for him to go to A&E.

We were taken into the EDOU (Emergency Department Observation Unit) where we spent a "happy" four hours.  One blood test got missed and so that took 90 minutes.  All the results were "normal for him" so we were allowed to go home.

Once again the staff were very good, and the nurse didn't understand how he could have gall stones with no gall bladder, so she asked the doctor and then came back and told us!

They told us not to hesitate to come back, and we were not wasting their time.  Their threshold is lower for Mr T because of his history, and safe is always better than sorry.  Where would we be without the NHS?

Mum and Dad kindly came to pick us up which was very much appreciated.
