Crossing the Forth
Got up early to see the Flying Scotsman cross the Forth Rail Bridge. Nice bike ride to Dalmeny and across the old road bridge. I found a nice spot under the road bridge and waited. Observing the train cross shows how absolutely huge the railway bridge is. After the few seconds of steam train I continued along the coast to Burntisland. I quite like the deindustrialised landscape. Although, I am sure the coast would have been a lot more exciting in the past with all the piers, boats, quarries and factories. I had in mind an old harbour just west of Burntisland to watch the Flying Scotsman. Unsurprisingly, the access has been totally fenced off. It would have been a good spot with a bend in the track and clear views. In the end I did find a nice place and waited for 2 hours. It was well worth it.
On the way to the train station in Burntisland I admired the big cranes of BiFab. One of the locals passed and told me he used to work there. No jobs now as all contracts seem to go abroad.
I cycled 45km in the end.
