Fossils

According to Wikipedia a fossil preserves a portion of the deceased organism that was partially mineralized during life. This hopefully makes this little bit of slate with embedded fossilised shells and ammonites just right for Ninniex's Tiny Tuesday Challenge on the theme of mineral.

I found it somewhere on the Jurassic coast in Dorset, UK a year or so ago.
