Cycle lane.
This may look like an unremarkable cycle lane alongside what could be any old urban distributor road. It is, however, amongst one of this country's very earliest cycle lanes which were built in the 1930's and this one is on the north side of Leicester. There are about 300 miles of them around the country. A journalist and cycling writer, Carlton Reid, has unearthed all of them. I took this photo for a colleague who supported Carlton Reid's Kickstarter campaign to get the funding to research them all, which I believe has been done now.
