Allium: Perfect Purple Strangers

As a lover of purple, I'm delighted to report that it's allium time at the Arboretum. The plants are weirdly pretty - each one, a big ball of purple blooms atop a skinny green stem. They are aliens. They MUST be. How else could they be so strange?
