a bright spot after the snow

I was so happy to see this Western Tanager on my walk to the grocery store this morning. I was even happier to find it was still there when I went back with my camera!
The snow was wet and heavy, and left much devastation in its wake. I am grateful that my old peach tree was not leafed out enough to sustain damage. Today the snow has all melted, but it is still gray and cold.
The tanager is a sign that summer really is coming!
