What is going on here?

I've noticed this a lot over the last few weeks. Tourists with honking great DSLR/Lens combinations round their necks, shooting with phones.

Have the batteries run out?  Did they buy the cameras for their trip of a lifetime and then realised that they a little work to get results from? Very odd.

H came into town to see me today, we went for a fine lunch. Well the lunch was fine, alas the people sitting next to us had serious nasal snorting, snuffling and general sniffing problems which did impact slightly on the experience.
