Bath pond

The bath pond is looking very full this year! It contains a mixture of British wild flowers and some ornamental irises. At least 2 frogs are in it a lot of the time and there are hover flies aplenty.

Strange day off today. Had a nice lie-in with tea and my book. A friend who lives in the centre of Wilmslow sent me a msg and picture of a mallard with 7 tiny ducklings in her garden. She was worried about them trying to go out of her garden and across a busy mainroad but then the mum decided they needed to exit the garden via a 2ft high brick wall and hedge. We came up with 'ramp' ideas to no avail. Late pm I said I would go over and help make a ramp they might be able to get up and dug up a length of turf to cover a plank so they could get some grip. Arrived at her house and guess what - they had disappeared! Lot of wasted angst between the two of us for most of the day! Just hope they are safe somewhere although the nearest natural body of water is about 1/4 of a mile away through many gardens and another main road :(
