Home of the Derby

We took a trolley tour of Louisville that included a stop at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. Expecting that it would be in the middle of rolling pastures and stately horse farms, I was surprised to see, instead, that it was surrounded by a somewhat worse for wear neighborhood of homes and businesses that had taken root over the course of the years.

We head out tomorrow for a long day's worth of driving to Chicago to beat the Memorial Day weekend madness. Grandkid hugs, here we come .
