Loch Ruthven

Loch Ruthven is an RSPB Reserve around ten miles south of Inverness. It is famous for the Slavonian Grebes. They are exotically coloured water birds who also appear to be rather shy. A lady in the hide, a kind of shed invisible to birds, said there had been some around half an hour before. Maybe they were away for their lunch or something. I did spot a chaffinch! My extra shows what Slavonian Grebes are supposed to look like. (Where is Slavonia, anyway?) My extra extra is of roadside bloom. It's gorse, of course!
