I am a Leaf
Thankfully recuperating sitting under a buddleia leaf after the trauma of being rescued from an early untimely demise in the conservatory this morning, this Brimstone was I would imagine relieved and happy. I too was happy seeing it as a golden opportunity for an early blip leaving me time to get on with outdoor chores.
Her curled proboscis gently feeling the leaf was fascinating to watch and I love the pinkish clubbed antennae, the leafy wing shape and generally seeing them flying down the hedgerows wandering the countryside.
They emerge in November but immediately prepare for hibernation gorging on nectar. Early spring sees them re-emerging from usually evergreens deep in the holly and ivy ready to mate.
