In the pink
Some sweet peas growing wild in a hedgerow. Today was very hot and the traditional Thursday afternoon walk was a bit of a slog. 9.5 km through shadeless vineyards, done at a cracking pace -- we left at 2 pm and were back by 4, when a large cold drink and a shower were most welcome.
We had a busy evening, starting with a flute and harp concert and ending with a Kirghiz film, Centaur, at the cineclub. Inbetween, we went to the Tira-Tap for the first time in I don't know how long. We weren't all that hungry, so we asked to share one menu between the two of us, which turned out to be just right. We'd forgotten how delicious Maria's cooking is, and we also had the rare pleasure of a bottle of Txakoli.
The flute and harp concert was a bit bland; the one piece I did enjoy was a rather spectacular solo piece for harp, Baroque Flamenco by Deborah Henson-Conant. The film was quite good and not quite as gloomy as some cineclub offerings (it doesn't have a happy ending though). Also it was only 90 minutes long, a rarity these days and the perfect length for a film in my view.
