On this day 200 years ago.....
.......Queen Victoria was born.
Named Alexandrina Victoria, she was the daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, the fourth son of King George III.
Both the Duke and the King died in 1820, and Victoria was raised under close supervision by her mother, Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld She inherited the throne at the age of 18, after her father's three elder brothers had all died, leaving no surviving legitimate children.
This coin, a silver shilling is dated 1819, the year of her birth, features King George III, her grandfather.
In a curious twist of fate, the BBC website today featured an article on the sale of a rare gold sovereign. Offered for sale at £100 000 it was struck in 1819, the same year.

Now I realise mine is a silver shilling, not a gold sovereign so I am prepared to make concessions.
Offers in excess of £10 000, will be considered, payable in the equivalent currency of your choice, including Bitcoins.
