At The Fountain
Cynthia and I are honorary grandparents of two lovely young boys, sons of good friends of ours. After visiting them with Christmas presents this afternoon, we went for an early dinner at the Fountain Bistro. The special menu featured duck -- one of my favorite foods.
We managed to get the cosy corner table and settled in to enjoy our meal. After a delicious cup of soup, I was eagerly anticipating my duck, which seemed to be taking a very long time to find its way to our table. Eventually, our waiter confessed that he had made a mistake, and our orders had not been conveyed to the chef. He apologized profusely, said there would be no charge for our wine, topped up our glasses, and gave us a free pastry of our choice to take home.
The duck was well worth the wait, as was C's vegetarian tostada. We both came home very satisfied.
