Not a bad day's work.

I sometimes have to pinch myself on days like this as I still can't quite believe this is work, even after 13 years of doing the job; out on my bike on this lovely cycle track and getting paid to do it. This is the Big Track between Derby and Nottingham. I'd been to Long Eaton to look at a section of cycle route to take some photos as examples to show engineers in Staffordshire where we plan to recreate the same. 

The location for this photo was also specially selected to re-create a photo taken here back in 2013 when I cycled with my pal from her home in Wolverhampton to Hull where she caught the ferry back to her parents home to the Netherlands. She lives in the UK but had always wanted to cycle home so we did it for her 30th birthday.

The extra is the first time I was here when there were lots of beautiful poppies in the field.
