2019 Saturday — New Doorway
This past Tuesday a new doorway was cut into the wall that separates the new patio room from the master bathroom. Previously that wall had a very wide, but short window.
So Mr. Fun was painting the inside of the new wall where the window used to be. I’m sitting in the patio room grading the grand finale student papers for this semester.
We have a couple more new doors on order — one will be installed at the entrance to the kitchen from the patio room. It will have 10 squares (or panes) of glass and I think will be very pretty.
The other will be a brand new door at the front porch entrance to this house. Both exterior doors were destroyed/demolished by the renters. They were pretty hard on this place.
Once all the doors are installed, the plaster/painter man will arrive to resurface the walls of the patio room, which used to be outside walls of the house. He will then paint all the newly surfaced walls, the new doors, and possibly the entire exterior of the house (we haven’t decided yet).
Then the window coverings will be installed, and finally the flooring (if we ever decide what we want) will be installed. Then this new patio room will be ready to enjoy, to live in, and to get comfy in.
When we moved back into this house almost a year ago, we had no plan to make the patio into a room, but we did plan to cover the patio.
Our friend and former neighbor does patio covers, Alumawood, and he had installed one at our former home. So when he told us he had begun to build patio rooms and invited us to his home to see his room, we thought it looked lovely. He quoted us a price to install one on our existing patio slab and it was affordable.
This 3-day weekend we are on the edge of an anniversary. We’re home in Corona, and not on the coast because traffic on holiday weekends is no fun. We’ll head to California’s Central Coast the end of this next week.
So, that’s today’s story.
From Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
