A line made walking

Kirkhaugh

Worked this morning and felt like a change of scene afterwards. After my visit to Augusta Raurica the other weekend I still had all things Roman on my mind so I went in search of Epiacum, the highest stone built Roman fort in Britain. Paula took much better photos of it on her visit

I kept getting caught in squally showers so didn’t linger long having walked along the South Tyne trail along the line of the South Tynedale Railway and then followed the Pennine Way/Maiden Way back to near Slaggyford. When the sun came out the meadows were gorgeous, full of the sound of curlew and lapwing and I spotted a couple of hares ...just not quick enough to blip them sadly.
