Portland, Oregon, City of Roses.

This Holiday weekend, Portland, is hosting its annual Rose Festival.  They city's weather (temperate rain forest) and topography lends itself to the cultivation of flowers.  The city gets its sobriquet from the number and varieties of roses cultivated here.   The rose appearing in the image is illuminated evening and welcomes visitors as they arrive in downtown proper.
