A present from me, to me

In keeping with Christmas spirit I bought myself a present for all the hard work I've done this year. I picked up a new lens; a Pentax SMC DA 35MM F2.4 AL and this is the first photo I took on it, just outside the door of Jessops where I bought it. Poor old JBLongmore was unfortunate enough to be in front of me, and so I stole his soul.

First impressions are good. Its plenty sharp, well built if a little light (although I sort of don't mind that), focuses pretty quickly, f2.4 is fast enough, and for £140 it puts it up there with the Canon 50mm f1.8 in terms of cheap primes. Its 35mm focal length means that its field of view is pretty much that of a 50mm lens on a film camera, which is probably my preferred format, so I am really happy with it. Expect to see the next few weeks' photos all at 35mm f2.4 (possible f2.8 if I'm feeling rebellious) because I can't see there being any need to take it off my camera at the moment.

PS. Also as a quick side note, I spent the past fortnight shooting film only, so once they are developed I'll fill in the gaps for December.
