Lake District Day 2
Another busy day trying to pack in as much as possible on our trip to the Lakes. We started out taking the ferry across Windermere to Hilltop which was Beatrix Potter's home. The little village is lovely and I can understand where she got the inspiration for her stories. After visiting her home and garden, we had a lovely cream tea with stunning views. We then drove to Coniston Water and saw the steam boat and the little beach and had a drink in the Bluebird Cafe. Chris had a bad head so I wandered quickly around a National Trust garden by myself and then we went back to our hotel for him to sleep it off.
A bit later we tried and failed to find a local waterfall but we did manage to find a small house on a bridge that used to house 8 people. We had a lovely meal in an Italian restaurant and then returned to the hotel to collapse again!
