Spirited

With temperatures topping 34C/96F and humidity out of control, indoors was the place to be.  So I took my lady visitors to the National Shrine (a catholic basilica) for a visit. 

Even though I'm not a church goer, I love that place: all art work on the walls and on the ceilings is made of intricate and delicate mosaics; little chapels line the central nave and are all devoted to the Virgin Mary -- in all its incarnations and from all over the world.  The crypt is appropriately somber (and somehow, right next to the gift shop...) and the grounds beautifully tended. 

So, a spirited day for the three of us :)
