Violet
Had a grand day out - went up to the Loch o' the Lowes to visit the ospreys (with bonus great crested grebes, red squirrels, etc etc), then across the A9 for a walk round the Hermitage. Came back via the Sma' Glen/Crieff intending to visit the Woodland trust woods in Glendevon, but by then it had come on to rain steadily so we just admired a very satisfactory number of damp young trees out of the car windows.
I found a violet by a mossy stone at the Hermitage - cue Wordworth's little verse surfacing from the memory archives.....She dwelt among the untrodden ways
