Soldanella Alpina....
..... or Alpine Snowbell. These tiny bell flowers are always the first to appear after the snow melts in the high alpine meadows. It also means that they get frozen if the temperature drops again. However they have their own anti-freeze so thaw out without damaging their delicate petals. It felt a bit mad taking this with the long lens but I didn't have a macro lens with me.
I was up early for the black grouse again but not early enough. However I was treated to the Dents du Midi lighting up above the valley shadows from a higher elevation than usual (in extra).
Huge thanks for placing the fritillary butterfly on the first Popular page too.
