Introduction To Camping
It’s ‘Half Term’ week in England this week (a week long school break) and my sister is on ‘Grandma duty’ for the week while her daughter and son-in-law are working. So we decided awhile ago that this would be a good time to introduce her two little granddaughters to camping. Tina and I camped together last September as a trial run for her as she is new to camping. So this time we booked a campsite near the New Forest for 4 nights of camping. I was glad that I was recovered enough from my last virus to follow through with plans.
We drove separately and met at the campsite. Unfortunately it was raining for most of the journey and still raining when we arrived at the campsite so we decided to have our picnic lunch in the Campervan. Thank goodness for Alfie!
Soon the rain developed into a mere drizzle so Tina and I put up the tent. This is an ‘inflatable’ tent which makes it SO easy to erect! Laying out the tent made it look ENORMOUS but once it’s up it doesn’t look so large - but plenty of space for bedrooms and living space and a large porch.
Aneeta and Jasmine were kept occupied by watching a video in the Campervan while we put up the tent which only took about 30 minutes. Finally we made our first campsite meal and the girls helped to cook. Sausage and mash with onion gravy, ratatouille and peas.
Thankfully the weather for the rest of the week is expected to be sunny and warm! Fabulous.
