I got it, but I don't get it...

My daughter Maria said the other day: "Daddy, do you know why dogs and men are so similar?" Me: "No". Maria: "When you talk to them, they look at you just as if they understand what you are saying" Me: "Ha, ha, ha..." (polite laughter, I just didn't get it)

Now, I got this for Christmas! Why on earth would Patricia and Nacho give me something like that? I just don't get it..., but Eva was kind enough to prepare breakfast for me, at the table!!! (big surprise, confusing signals...)
