Cardinal Beetle
Alex and I spent a long day recording quadrats in Shenley Wood, an open access ancient woodland in Milton Keynes. No bank holidays for self-employed ecologists! We worked pretty much non-stop, but I couldn't resist a short pause to snap this vibrant Cardinal Beetle, sitting on a sunny ride-edge.
We arrived home about eight and sat down for a delicious Indian take-away with Chris and Pete, who'd also been out all day surveying Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire, but had arrived back about an hour earlier. A real treat not to have to prepare food!
