Looking To The Past
Today was driving on the long straight roads of Wyoming. I do like them. The clouds seem bigger, the horizon is further away than in my small country and I'm allowed to drive at 70 miles per hour. The speed limit at home is 62 mph or 100 ks. Just when I was needing a break from the white line an historic site appeared and we pulled in. This is the view from Split Rock. It was a well known landmark on the Oregon trail. Emigrants on the Oregon Trail and the Mormon Trail often camped below this point on the Sweetwater River where there was good grass and water.
I'm liking these in camera panos for showing the scale of the landscape.
