Working By Flashlight
Yesterday I wrote a little about the working conditions of the piñata makers, colorful designs made in poorly lit shacks, but Carlos, who was over for Christmas dinner, was forced to do them one better. He not only decided to create a pair of earrings while we all watched, putting added pressure to ensure every twist was perfect, he did it by way of harsh, directional flashlight illumination. I confess my old eyes can barely see my camera settings after dark and here he is creating intricate designs from thin, practically invisible wire in almost total darkness (though this photo makes it look much brighter than reality). And of course, they turned out perfect.
