Leisure photography

It has been another lovely day up in the north of Scotland (sunny and crisp, not to say icy in parts), and to mark this we took a bit of a tour in the car both to show my son around some places we've seen and he hasn't seen before, and in order to visit a well known prehistoric site just around the corner from Culloden Battlefield. Somewhat to our surprise Clava Cairns were somewhat overrun (by winter standards anyway), largely by two tour buses from Haggis Tours. It was a bit unfortunate that we managed to coincide with them there, but even so we found quite a bit of peace and quiet in what is a magical spot.

After that, we drove over the Kessock Bridge and down to Chanonry Point where we saw dolphins aplenty the summer before last when we were there. This time, there were just a few seals poking their heads out of the water. And then we took a turn around the north side of the Black Isle in order to see the rigs and various pieces of oil industry infrastructure off Invergordon in the Cromarty Firth. It was this bit of the afternoon which produced my blip, because as you can see certain people were taking leisure photography to its logical conclusion. But pleasingly you can also see reflected in the car the various sights we had actually stopped to photograph.

Now we are back in the cottage, in front of the fire, and settling in for another quiet night. It's funny. We are literally about 30 yards from a pub, and yet we haven't been in there yet.
