Ze Community Chest Carnival

Lots of twirly, stomach-in-your-throat rides, but I couldn't bring myself to join in the fun because I had visions of the headline the next day: "5 dead due to faulty carnival ride". This headline has not materialized so far, but its the kind of paranoia one gets in South Africa after spending too many days reading all the gruesome headlines posted on Main Road. I know that murder and rape is more common here than anywhere, but along with that, it seems like horrible accidents are as proportionally commonplace. So I didn't ride the teacups.

I did, however, eat loads of lamb curry, try on numerous saris, listen to a band called "Shanty" in the Irish tent, and try unsuccessfully to consume a huge, multi-colored lollipop.
