Tiny Tuesday: Tiny Rose

Thanks to LoisBiz for hosting June's Tiny Tuesday challenge. It's the first week of the month so there's no set theme.

This tiny rose flower has just opened in our garden - it's only 4-5 cm across.

It has an interesting back story. We used to have a lovely climbing rose which unfortunately suddenly died a couple of years ago, for no apparent reason. However my Editor noticed a little stalk on its root which was still alive, and has nurtured it in a pot ever since. It's never flowered before but now it's just started to do so - however the flowers are quite different in shape and much smaller. We're assuming that this growth has come from the root stock on which the original rose scion had been grafted. So it's clearly not going to be the same as the original, but it's still very pretty in its tinyness!
