But it may be of interest to those keen on natural history.
It shows the larvae of the Viburnum Leaf Beetle.
This is a native of Europe and Asia although it has recently been found in Ontario and New York.
The Royal Horticultural Society ranked the larvae as the number one pest for gardeners in 2010.
The Beetle burrows into Viburnum twigs and lays batches of eggs. These hatch in April into the larvae seen here. They munch away in May and June before dropping off into the soil and turning into new beetles.
These were on Guelder Rose which is a Viburnum and which we saw in Leighton Moss this morning.
