All Saints Church Goodmanham
The Church is 11th century and the site has a longer history than that
"According to Bede, Goodmanham was the place where, in 627, Coifi the chief priest desecrated and fired a pagan shrine after Edwin and his council had decided in favour of the conversion to Christianity.
And the present Church replaced an earlier one on the same spot.
The Church is on a hillock six feet above a surrounding road that makes it feel as if you are on a island floating above the village, and despite its age the church grounds are so extensive the graveyard has enough room to accomodate the villagers ( assuming it remains the present size) for generations to come.
I love it's simple integrity
